The javelin is not my favorite Olympic event, but it does intrigue me. How is it, that a human can throw a spear that far? The current leader of the event threw a distance of 88.34 meters -- that is just shy of 290 feet for you metric-challenged people. I bet they couldn't throw one of our spears that far. Of course, our spears are attached to a frame and are used to pick up bales!
